What the 48V system adds
The 48V system isn't a full hybrid that drives the ute electrically. It's a mild-hybrid assist system designed to make the 2.8 diesel smoother and more efficient. Toyota says it provides smoother engine stop/start, reduced NVH and improved acceleration response, with fuel-efficiency improvements of roughly 6–10% versus the equivalent non-48V setup, depending on variant.
